San Fran Plans
The crew have arrived! In time this page will be updated with details on their plans over the coming days.
The Arrival Celebrations
We believe the crew will be rowing under the bridge at around 8am San Francisco Time on the incoming tide.
The Golden Gate Yacht Club’s Race Committee Boat, Cygnet, will be set up underneath the bridge to record the official time of completion. St Francis Yacht club have also very kindly leant us an inflatable which will go out past the bridge and accompany the crew in.
After rowing under the bridge the crew will row to the south side of the bay where they will moor in front of the Golden Gate Yacht Club, hopefully at around 9-10am San Francisco Time (5-6pm UK time). The boat will moor up directly in front of the club, and the boys will head inside for their well earned breakfasts (Steak and Eggs for Mick, and a full fry-up for Chris) prepared by the wonderful Bob Mulhern (General manager of the club).
Any well wishers, or local press wishing to welcome the crew should come to the Golden Gate Yacht Club any time after 8am - location details are below. Do stick around as the boys and their families woud love to meet everyone and thank them personally for their support.
Accompanying Flotilla
We’ve had a number of emails from locals who would like to acompany the crew in. Please do! The more the merrier. As I’ve said above we hope they’ll be arriving under the bridge around 8am San Francisco time. We expect them to come in fairly close to the main channel near the centre of the bridge.
The Golden Gate Yacht Club
The Golden Gate Yacht Club have very kindly volunteered to host the arrival of the crew, and on behalf of everyone involved in the Endeavour I’d like to thank them for their generous support.
The club can be found at Yacht Road overlooking Yacht Harbour opposite Golden Gate Promenade, just 2 miles east of the southern end of Golden Gate Bridge. To get to the club you go out around the marina on the Yacht Road. It’s approximately 200m past St Francis Yacht Club.
Welcome Party
The British Consul-General Julian Evans will will welcome the crew on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.
There are also a number of family and friends including:
- Chris’ Parents, Keith and Isabel.
